Bathroom Organizational Tips: Dorm Edition

Whether you have your own bathroom, or you’re sharing with three other students, being organized can make life much easier.

In a dorm room, bathroom real estate is pretty limited. Don’t worry — there are ways to minimize the stress that comes with feeling like you’re on top of your roommates. When dealing with smaller, crammed spaces, organization is key. Here are a few budget-friendly ways to get everything in order!

Buy a toilet rack or ladder shelf

A toilet rack is a handy tool to add more storage space conveniently above your toilet. You can buy the racks with shelves to store necessities, toilet paper, towels, and more. The same goes for ladders — you can store things on each step and decorate it however you’d like.

Utilize storage bins

Storage bins are the key to organizing efficiently. You can separate things and store them under the bathroom cabinets and no one will even know. If you’re sharing the bathroom with roommates, you can each get different colors so no one will get their things mixed up.

Hang more towel hooks

One towel hook just won’t do the job. Instead of squeezing your towels onto one rack, pick up some Command Hooks for a simple fix. You can place as many as you want behind the door, in a closet, or even right next to your rack.

Get a stand-up shower caddy

We all know how convenient shower caddies can be. However, the ones that stand up in the shower or hang on the shower head offer you much more space. As a bonus, the caddy is hidden behind a curtain so it doesn’t look tacky.

Invest in a bathroom cart

There are times when you try really hard to make room for things but you just don’t have the space. One of the best things I can recommend is investing in a bathroom cart. You can put everything you need on the cart, and it comes in clutch if you don’t have an under-the-sink cabinet. You can even put a few plants or picture frames on top of the cart to make it look even nicer. This one from Ikea is a cheap fan favorite.

Add Mason jars

What do you mean Mason jars aren’t just for drinking lemonade? They are a convenient way to store small things like Q-tips, cotton balls, makeup pads, and other everyday necessities. Place them on a tray and you have storage and decor; a two-in-one!

Don’t ignore your medicine cabinet

Medicine cabinets are good for storing medicine, of course. But it doesn’t have to be solely for pill bottles! This is yet another hidden storage gem, and it’s a great place for smaller things, like skincare items and soap.

Sharing a bathroom and having limited space doesn’t have to be hard. These tips can provide you with trendy and effective ways to store your things! We want to know what worked for you. Let us know in the comments below.
