Personal Growth Checkup

Growth is inevitable.

As we mature, we expand our knowledge and learn more about ourselves and others. No matter how big or small this growth is, it helps us discover who we are.

Self-evaluation is a way to look at yourself in a different light. It judges your character, exposes your flaws, and challenges your desire for improvement. You have to be brutally honest with yourself, whether you like it or not. Truth hurts, but it’s best to face it head-on. It’s a gradual process, and over time, you’ll see the results.

I’ve noticed myself analyzing who am I now and who I want to be in the future. I’m slowly making changes in my life, and my mental health improves in the process. All it takes is motivation and dedication to break your bad habits. Keeping track of my own progress through journaling lessened my anxiety tremendously. Not only did it make me less anxious, but it also showed me that I’m capable of change.

Want to try it for yourself? Here are a few questions and journaling prompts to get your mind thinking.

What’s going right in my life?

What do I love most about myself?

What are my five best qualities?

What does my ideal day look like?

What do I need more of in my life?

What am I prioritizing right now?

What do I need to let go of? How is it holding me back?

What motivates me?

Am I utilizing my time to the best of my ability?

Have I spent time on my passions recently?

When do I feel the most confidence in myself?

What can I do to take better care of myself?

What’s draining my energy, and how can I reduce it?

When was the last time I truly felt alive?

The perfect time to start self-improvement is now, and a simple, introspective brainstorming session is the best way to start. You never know what you’ll find out about yourself unless you try. I’m rooting for you!

Love yourself and…

Be well, Auburn.

Growing up as a military child, Jennifer moved from state to state, until her family settled in Madison, AL. Spending the majority of her life there, she got introduced to video production and decided to pursue that field of study at Auburn University. As a senior in Visual Media with a minor in Business and Marketing, Jennifer keeps her options open for whatever direction graduation will take her. Jennifer starts every day with her favorite drink, Dunkin’ iced coffee. Besides that, she loves going to concerts, planning road trips, being crafty, and doing anything adventurous. She considers herself to be open-minded, except when it comes to trying new foods. Overall, Jennifer thrives off a busy schedule while making a balance of personal and quality time with others.
