Our Fitness Pros Tell All: 5 Fitness Products They Can't Live Without

The market is flooded with different fitness products — each promising to enhance your workout and change your life.

Trying to find the right product is a little overwhelming, so we talked to some of the fitness professionals here at The Rec to learn which products they can’t live without.

1. Shaker Bottle -- Blake Butcher

“I need it before my workouts so I can take a pre-workout energy supplement, during my workouts for water, and after my workout for protein intake.  I feel it’s one of the most valuable and underrated fitness products.”

2. Running Shoes -- Laure Butcher

“The fitness product that I could not live without is my pair of running shoes. With the proper athletic shoes you can get a workout in anywhere and at any time!”

3. Barbell & Plates -- Kyle Robertson

“You can do everything you need to do in the gym as long as you have a bar and plates. I don’t like to have to walk around the gym from piece of equipment to piece of equipment, so eighty percent of my exercises require only these products. From performing the big lifts to doing self-myofascial release, and from using it as a landmine to using it for single extremity exercises, you can really do everything with a bar and plates … except cardio, but I hate cardio.”

4. Water Bottle -- Christy Coleman

“Even in cold weather, you lose water through sweating, and staying at optimal hydration is key to good health. Whether I’m doing cardio or resistance training, I think it’s important to drink water and keep refilling the bottle throughout the day!”

5. Stepper -- Josh Jones

“I get bored quickly when doing cardio, so I like how I can get an intense cardio workout in a short period of time with a stepper. Also, the constant fear of falling off keeps me focused.”
