A-Z of The Rec

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I wonder what an alphabetized list of The Rec’s best amenities and features would look like?”

So have I! Luckily for you, I’ve compiled them here. Without further ado, here is the A-Z of The Rec.

A is for Auburn Outdoors.

B is for Be Well. (Hello, readers!)

C is for Climbing wall(s).

There are three of them, can you name them all?

D is for Dance Fit.

E is for Equipment Desk.

F is for Facilities.

These guys are the real MVPs of the Rec. They’re the ones you see keeping the facility in prime shape, so you should definitely be nice to them.

G is for the Golf Simulator.

H is for Heisman Level.

Did you know that’s the official name for the ground floor of The Rec?

I is for Intramural sports.

J is for Jacob’s Ladder.

This is a real piece of exercise equipment we have on the Mezzanine, not just a ladder left around by some guy named Jacob (contrary to what I first thought when trying to come up with something that starts with J. Harder than you think!).

K is for Kickboxing.

L is for Livingston Courtyard.

M is for Mezzanine.

N is for Night Cycle.

This is possibly the coolest-looking Group Fit class at the Rec. I hear it’s also one of the hardest, but I think I’ll take people’s word for it.

O is for Olympic/Powerlifting space.

P is for Pool.

Q is for Quick Fit Abs.

R is for RWC Connect.

This is the place to go for any and all Rec-related information! You can find anything from tournament registrations to group fitness class times.

S is for Small Group Training.

T is for Turnstiles.

This is what they call those things you scan your card to walk through when you first get in the facility. To be honest, I never even knew they had a name; much less that it’s “turnstile.”

U is for Umbrella bags.

For the days when weather isn’t your friend — but Membership has you covered.

V is for Volleyball court.

W is for “Welcome to The Rec!”

Need I say more?

X is for TRX Circuit.

I bet you were all wondering what I would put down for X. Are you impressed? Disappointed? Trying to think of your own X-word that could be a better fit? Well, you can’t. This is as good as it gets, and I think it’s pretty admirable that I thought of something at all.

Y is for Yoga.

Z is for Zumba.

There you have it! From A-Z, The Rec has something for everyone.

Be well, Auburn.

Born in Mobile, Alabama, Hannah’s decision to attend Auburn came as a nasty shock to her Alabama-loving family. They’ve since come around, though she suspects her mom will never remove her crimson license plate from her car. Hannah is a junior studying visual media and minoring in marketing, and, like her mom and her license plate, you’ll never see Hannah without her Canon in tow.

Hannah’s likes include her roommate’s homemade cookies, true crime podcasts, and Auburn Basketball. Besides The Rec, Hannah works as an extra on film and TV shows — she has played everything from an elf to a bomb victim, and her eternal fun fact is that she was in Stranger Things. Hannah’s dream is to one day make her own movies, and she’s already written her acceptance speech for Best Director at the Oscars.
