April Showers Bring May Flowers

College is filled with inevitable hurdles.

From making new friends to the never-ending assignments that are due, challenges are an inherent part of the college experience. While they are tough to face, these obstacles can help you grow into a better version of yourself.

Making new friends

Making friends in a new place can be nerve-wracking. You have to step out of your comfort zone. A great way to meet new people is by joining clubs and attending events on campus. Remember, everyone is in the same situation! Be true to yourself and be open to meeting new people. You never know- you might meet someone in an unexpected place who will be a lifelong friend.

Balancing Act

Juggling school, extracurriculars, a social life, and a part-time job can be overwhelming. It’s important to develop strong time management skills. Invest in a calendar or use an app to stay organized. Personally, I love using Google Calendar, since it sends notifications to my phone. Also, don’t forget about self-care. If you are feeling overwhelmed and need some time to recharge, it is okay to say ‘no’ to plans sometimes!

Focus on your journey

Everyone’s college experience is different. Do not compare yourself to others! College is a time of personal growth. Instead of comparing yourself to others, set personal goals. Everyone has different intentions, learning styles, and priorities. Embrace your unique college journey! Remember to focus on yourself, celebrate your achievements, and surround yourself with supportive people who believe in you.

College is full of challenges, but overcoming them will help you grow as a person. Build meaningful connections, prioritize your well-being, and don’t forget: “April showers bring May flowers.”

Keep overcoming your challenges, and…
