Top Songs on My Christmas Playlist

If you are anything like me, you love Christmas music.

Whether it’s a classic, new, or old, I’m a fan of almost all of them. The older songs, however, are at the top of my playlist. Something about them just brings all the feels of the holiday season. It’s not easy to pick favorites, but here are my top ten Christmas jams.

10. Wonderful Christmastime — Paul McCartney

This funky spin-off from Paul McCartney will take you on a journey of what makes Christmastime so enjoyable. Pushing musical boundaries while staying in the holiday spirit is what really draws me to this song.

9. Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree — Brenda Lee

This truly is the hustle and bustle of Christmas in a song. Just like the beginning of Home Alone, the fast-paced energy reminds me of the chaos and excitement of the season.

8. Blue Christmas — Elvis Presley

There is no doubt that Elvis brings the blues in this song. It reminds me of nights by the fire with my family, telling old stories, and watching home videos. There is definitely a feeling of nostalgia in this song.

7. Last Christmas — WHAM

Don’t let the heartbreak fool you. This song’s catchy tune and festive charm are sure to reel you in for a groovy Christmas experience.

6. A Holly Jolly Christmas — Burl Ives

Burl Ives sets the mood for a holly jolly holiday season with this Christmas favorite. His imagery and vocals will send you back to the care-free times as a child looking at Christmas lights.

5. It’s Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas — Michael Buble

Christmas means it’s time for Michael Buble to grace us with his beautiful voice. Some say that his voice is specifically made for singing Christmas carols. When I’m listening to this song, I have to agree.

4. Mele Kalikimaka — Bing Crosby

I have never been to Hawaii, but living in the South, I’m familiar with a warmer Christmas. Everyone loves this song because of its upbeat nature and playful attitude. Plus...it’s really fun to say.

3. Please Come Home for Christmas — The Eagles

The smooth, almost jazzy quality of this track has the relaxing effect of hot chocolate by the fire. From guitar solos to Don Henley’s voice, this song can put anyone in the Christmas spirit.

2. Santa Claus is Coming to Town — Bruce Springsteen

There is something special about Bruce Springsteen and Christmas music. I don’t know if it is the soul of the rock and roll or his raspy voice, but it just feels right.

 1. All I Want For Christmas Is You — Mariah Carey

This one is my all-time favorite, and I shamelessly start listening to it on November 1st every year. It carries so much energy and passion and is perfect to sing at the top of your lungs with your friends. If you’re really in the spirit, try the extra festive version. Oh yeah, you read that right.

Christmas wouldn’t be the same without the classic songs we listen to every year. These songs bring families together and are part of many of my Christmas memories. Next time you’re getting into the Christmas spirit, play a few of these songs, and listen to the magic of Christmas.
