Be Well City Guide: Pensacola

Found on the far west of Florida’s panhandle, Pensacola’s charm is much more than the gulf coast beaches.

Not only is Pensacola rated one of the U.S.’s best small cities, Palafox Street in the heart of downtown is also nationally renowned as one of the greatest streets in America.

What To Do

At first glance, Pensacola might seem to be a sleepy town, but trust me when I say, there is no shortage of things to do. You can go see a local concert at Vinyl Music Hall, visit the Graffiti Bridge, or explore Historic Pensacola Village. Walking down Palafox Street, or going to the Saturday market are a must. Pensacola beach is beautiful…and just two bridges away from downtown Pensacola! For all you history buffs, Fort Pickens is a historic, protected landmark and wonderful place to visit as well.

Where To Eat

Pensacola has no shortage of incredible and unique dining options. Carmen’s Lunch Bar & Tapas is perfect for signature iced teas. Bodacious Brew is a coffee roastery, as well as an oil and vinegar shop. You can’t go wrong with The Fish House, The Oar House, or anywhere along Palafox Street.

Where To Stay

To cut costs for sleeping arrangements, consider visiting during the off-season.  As college students, Pensacola is the perfect weekend getaway at any time of the year. You can stay at Pensacola Victorian Bed & Breakfast, or even in an Airbnb, such as this “tiny house” for $70/night or this beach bungalow for $61/night.

Throughout my life, I have visited Pensacola countless times – and each time I visit I fall in love with it all over again. It seems there is always something new. Comment your Pensacola favorites and suggestions below for future reference!
