Why We Should All Be More Like Aubie

Recently, I attended an event with Aubie (which isn’t surprising because he is everywhere) and I started to think about how we could all work to be more like him.

Think about it – everyone is always so excited to see him, he is a friend to everyone, and he is an all-around icon (ahem, 10-time national champion). Here are some reasons I think we should all try to be more like Aubie.

1. He’s adaptable.

Aubie supports every organization and group on campus and does it well. Whether he is at a football game, on the concourse, or at an event at The Rec, he always has so much personality and fits the vibe of the event perfectly. He even “dresses the part.”

2. He’s on top of it!

Aubie makes time in his schedule to support a variety of causes on campus and in the community. He is a very busy guy, but you’d never know that because he brings the energy each and every time.

3. His actions speak louder than words.

Personally, I spend my time trying to get Aubie to talk. Sadly, I’ve never been successful in this. But his lack of words goes to show that his actions have to make up for everything. Although very quietly, Aubie always comes through.

4. He puts his all into everything he does.

As an Auburn student, you never see Aubie slacking or not giving his best. He’s always in the best mood and brings the hype we all need. This in itself is why he is the most successful college mascot in history!

5. He Loves Auburn.

This goes without saying, but Aubie LOVES Auburn. He doesn’t take the amazing education, the beautiful campus, or the Auburn family for granted. Auburn is easy to love and Aubie loves us well.

Even though I’m still working on my slight fear of Aubie, I still admire him for what he brings to Auburn’s campus.

 Be more like Aubie, and…

Be Well, Auburn.

Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, Ashley is a freshman in Communications. Her indecisiveness led her to choose Auburn very last minute, and now she is in love with the school and lives for game days and Toomer’s vanilla lemonade.

She has a wide range of interests, mostly consisting of video, media, makeup, fashion, and food. In her free time, you can find her at Coffee Cat, Chick Fil A, in bed, or watching Food Network (preferably Guys Grocery’s Games or Pioneer Woman.) She’s currently savoring every moment she has at Auburn, even all the times she is left by the transit or gets lost in the Haley Center.
