Create Your Own Pop-Up Mother's Day Card

As a kid, I always loved making gifts for people. Partially because I had no money, but mainly because I believed that a gift made out of hard work and love makes a more heartfelt, meaningful, and irreplaceable gift.
My favorite gift to handcraft is cards. Specifically, pop-up cards. Although it might sound daunting, it really is quite simple and I’m going to walk you through each step. At the end, you will have a 3D bouquet of flowers when you open the card.
Items Needed:
White Paper*
Colored Paper*
Necessary: Green
Choose one or more: Red, Orange, Yellow, Blue, Purple, Pink
Scissors
Glue or Tape
* The more durable the paper is, the better.
Step 1
Take a white sheet of horizontal paper and cut it into whatever size card you desire, folding it in half vertically. Then cut along the folded side a 1 ½ inch line a couple inches from the top. Cut a ½ inch line a little over an inch from the bottom.
Step 2
Bend and fold the paper, like pictured in the image, to create two triangles, a larger one at the top and a smaller one at the bottom, to resemble the iconic shape of a bouquet.
Step 3
Take green construction paper and cut into slim pieces. Then cut slivers into a large rectangle of green paper as shown in the first image. This will be used at the bottom of the bouquet. Cut individual skinny rectangles for the stems of the flowers as seen in the second image.
Step 4
Take colored construction paper and cut into shapes of flowers. I drew the flowers first and then cut along the lines. This step might take a little bit of patience depending on how big you make the flowers. No flower should be bigger than an inch in diameter. It might be a good idea to cut flowers of varying shapes, colors, and sizes to add variety to the bouquet.
Step 5
Use glue to stick the stems [the green paper] to the flowers you cut out. Then stick more stems to the bottom of the bouquet using either glue or a strip of tape.
Step 6
Attach the white paper with the bouquet now with stems and flowers, to a slightly larger colored piece of paper using glue or double-sided tape.
Step 7
Finally, decorate the inside and outside of the card with your message and draw a design of your choice on the bouquet.
That’s it! Now all you have left to do is give the handmade card to your loved one and see their priceless reaction as a tear comes to their eye.
