How to Make Your College House a Home

College homes are temporary, but that doesn’t mean they don’t deserve some love! Here are some easy and thrifty ways to create a space you’re proud to call home.
Picture Wall
Cheap, cute, and custom! My roommate and I printed some fun pictures we found on Pinterest and some of our own. Then we thrifted some eclectic frames and hung them in a corner that needed some sprucing up! This turned out to be my favorite area of our home. It’s so cozy, brightens up the room, and adds a personal touch to the house.
Corkboard
For all your silly college keepsakes. Anything and everything goes on our corkboard and now we have so many memories to look back on! Head to Target and grab one for only $15.00; you won’t regret it.
Fun Fridge
Magnets, pictures, sticky notes, and more! Keep it fun. Similar to the corkboard, the fridge can be a great place to keep memories and moments of your college experience.
Signed Trash Can
Pretty trash cans are expensive and cheap trash cans are boring. To solve this problem my roommate and I bought a cheap, white trash can and have every guest sign it when they enter our house! I love seeing all my friends’ names every day and reminiscing on the events we have hosted!
Bright Colors
Don’t shy away from using lots of color in your home! I personally have never loved the minimalist style and think using loads of color gives houses a homier feel. My crafty roommate painted a few of our cabinets and upholstered our chairs with some fun pink fabric. We found both on Facebook marketplace and now we have exactly the colors we want without the price of brand-new furniture.
