The Power Of A Good Night Routine

We talk so much about morning routines, but your night routine could be what really makes or breaks your day.
The way you wind down and reset your mind can set the stage for how you feel the next day.
Here's why creating a night routine is so worth it:
Better sleep:
Creating a night routine can be a simple way to signal to your body that it is almost time to go to sleep. Doing the same things each night will let your mind and body know it is bedtime. We tend to create habits, and the ones you do before bed can be crucial to your body's well-being.
I think you should add a sentence that says like “You can fall asleep easier and stay asleep longer if your brain is trained to shut off at the same time every day.” Try replacing the second sentence with something similar to that. The first and second sentence you have now are saying roughly the same thing.
Less stress:
Taking time at the end of the day to relax and unplug can be vital to your stress levels. This chill time looks different for everyone- maybe it is coloring, quiet time, or simply listening to music to calm your mind. You can also use this time to prep for tomorrow, so you wake up with less to worry about.
Built-in self-care:
As you go through your night routine, you will develop habits that act as self-care. Things like skincare, journaling, and other activities that are good for you and your mind are the perfect additions to your routine!
The night routine that I have crafted that works best for me:
This routine works best for me when I'm in Auburn, but I try to adjust and keep it as similar as possible when I am on vacation or back at home.
Tidy up my room
Fold/hang my laundry, pick up trash, Clorox if needed, put shoes away, etc. A clean space always puts my mind at ease.
Light a candle
The cherry on top of a clean room. Clean and smells good= the perfect combination.
Take a shower
Whether it's an everything shower or just a quick rinse, I am getting clean and signaling to my brain that the day is done! Once I shower, I do not leave my house- I like keeping my bed free of "outside germs”.
Prepare for the next day
During this time, I do everything I need to have a stress-free morning. I lay out my outfit, pack up work clothes, fill up my water bottle, and pack my lunch if I have a busy day. I also tend to create a to-do list or glance at my planner to know what I have for the day ahead. Doing all this planning clears the unknowns and gives me peace before bed.
Hop in bed and relax
Now it's time to chill out. I usually color and put on a comfort show to help me relax and ease my mind from the stress of everyday life.
Then, it's lights out! Goodnight y'all!
Any routine can help you stay focused and stress free. Night routines just put a little extra pep in your step! Have a good night’s sleep and…
Be Well, Auburn.
