Get Rec'd: Be Well's Official Guide

On August 16, from 5-7 p.m., Auburn students will GET REC'D!

With dozens of exciting games and activities, 45+ local vendors, and tons of prizes,  the best thing you’ll do on the first day of class. In case you haven’t attended GET REC'D before, this exclusive Be Well guide provides everything you need to know, what to expect, and how to make the most of this AUsome event.

Details

The event kicks off at 5 p.m. at the Recreation and Wellness Center. Once past the turnstiles inside, students will be given cards for the Get Rec’d scavenger hunt, which contain a select list of Get Rec’d sponsors. When you visit the sponsor tables on courts 1-6, they’ll each stamp your card. Collect three stamps, and head to Prize Central (located between Courts 2 and 3) to receive a free Get Rec’d t-shirt while supplies last. Many sponsors will be handing out various freebies, coupons and discounts at their tables, so don’t miss your chance to bag some swag!

Games and Contests

You'll find 15+ games and activities on the basketball courts. On the first court, you’ll find the War Eagle Warrior Challenge, an intense obstacle course sponsored by our Fitness team. You’ll be competing against fellow students for the chance to win one of four grand prizes. We’ll also have a free photo booth, inflatable Twister and human foosball. WEGL, the Auburn student operated radio station, will DJ the event, and our group fitness team will lead rowing, cycling challenges and musical Bosu.

There will be four grand prize winners for each game and multiple winners throughout the night. In 2015 students won Go Pros, free adventure trips, and dozens of gift card from local businesses. This year, we’re giving away thousands of dollars of prizes, gift cards and premium merchandise, so don’t miss out!

A Taste of Auburn

Head to the MAC Gym for our Taste of Auburn experience, where local restaurants provide free samples of their best dishes, and 24 club sports teams will be there and ready to answer any questions. They’ll also be competing in a contest for the best table layout, so make sure to vote! You can find a complete list of vendors here, but highlights include BurgerFi, Pieology Pizzeria, Louie's Chicken Fingers, Zoe's, Buffalo Wild Wings and Krispy Kreme.

Chopped Non-Cooking Challenge

Handy in the kitchen? Enter our Chopped Challenge! Styled after the popular TV show, you’ll compete against three fellow Auburn students as you work to impress our professional chefs. You’ll be competing in a series of elimination rounds, so bring your toque blanche and your A-game. The winner will receive a deluxe gift basket filled with local coupons, gift cards, and merchandise, courtesy of Auburn/Opelika Tourism.

All dishes will be prepared with fresh, non-cooked ingredients. Since the contest will last for the majority of the evening, we can only accept four competitors. To sign up, head downstairs to the MAC gym at 5 p.m. to save your spot, and see who gets chopped!

Free Play on our PGA Golf Simulator

On The Rec’s lower level, take advantage of free play in our state-of-the-art golf simulator. Take a break and hit the greens with your friends. Scale our climbing wall, and discover hidden golden tickets. Return them to Prize Central to claim one of four grand prizes.
