Ditch the Notebooks. Use an iPad.

Ditch the Notebooks. Use an iPad.

In a world where the demand for electronics is continuously growing, so is the need for new study habits. In college, it is extremely hard to learn the most effective way to study.

Every professor’s curriculum and teaching method varies from subject to subject. With an iPad, I can keep all five of my classes in one place. My first semester of college was affected by COVID-19 restrictions, guidelines, and cancellations. My classes were all conducted via Zoom. It was extremely difficult to assess my study habits and adapt them to ensure I was a successful Zoom student. I decided to stay “old-school” and take notes on paper. Rummaging around paper notes to locate key material was not effective, and I knew something had to change.

The main attraction for me to purchase an iPad was the fact that I would still be handwriting my notes. I certainly did not want to be typing my notes in class. My favorite function of the iPad as a college student is being able to download PowerPoints and write directly on the slide deck. Thanks to GoodNotes, I can keep my notes in folders all in one common place that syncs across multiple devices. However, in order to write or draw on the device, an Apple Pencil is required.

Also, another advantage is collaborating with the other Apple products. Screen mirroring has become my best friend over the past few months because I am able to work and study on multiple screens. For example, I typically watch lecture videos on my computer and use my iPad to reflect and take notes. This was also helpful when writing papers because I could type on my computer and have the outline on my iPad guiding me.

An iPad is great in a work environment, but also useful for entertainment purposes. An iPad provides the ability to watch shows, read books, play games, and so much more. Personally, I prefer watching TV on my iPad because the screen size is bigger than my phone’s screen.

As a perfectionist, it is critical for me to be an organized student. With my iPad, I have everything I need just one touch away: my calendar, notes, email, Zoom, messages, and more. As a student, my iPad has given me the ability to achieve greatness inside and outside of the classroom. Furthermore, it is a major plus that I have the convenience of entertainment on the same device.
