Finding Your Fit

Finding Your Fit

Exercise and fitness can be fun! Finding your favorite way to be active, and how to make it a habit allows you to develop a greater appreciation for yourself and your body. A great way to learn about your preferences is to try out different forms of exercise. Finding one you enjoy will make you more likely to continue to make it a routine.

Experiment with Different Formats

A great way is to experiment with fitness classes and other programs. You may gravitate more to yoga or pilates for a slow-paced, mind to muscle, connection-focused class. Other classes like HIIT, kickboxing, or cycling may be more cardio-intensive and really get you sweating. Picking out a class you have never tried before is a way to discover your new favorite way to get moving. Group fitness classes are an excellent way to explore your options.

Exercise Without Exercising

Sometimes we can be active without even realizing it! Intense cardio isn't the only way to exercise. Simple activities like walking with a friend or hiking are great to explore and be active all at once. Listening to music or a podcast during a walk makes you forget you’re even exercising.

Set Some Goals

Setting goals for your fitness journey helps you hold yourself accountable, and you’ll be more likely to reach milestones. Doing some research on what type of activity you need to be incorporating, along with how it will help you reach those goals is crucial.

Exercise doesn't have to be the punishment, it's supposed to be fun!

Be Well, Auburn.

Born in Connecticut, raised in Marietta, Georgia, Erika is a sophomore studying graphic design. Once stepping foot on campus, she immediately knew Auburn was her home. She has goals to pursue branding and package design in hopes someday to be seeing her work on the shelves of Target or other big box stores.

Outside of school, she loves driving around singing music over her radio, lounging around the house with her roommates, or spending time with her friends playing pick-up games. Erika loves to create and share her passion for art with others, even selling her artwork on Redbubble. And when she isn’t sketching, she is most likely getting in a workout between classes. Her love of sports and fitness has been unwavering ever since she was a kid. Playing three varsity level sports in high school, including volleyball, lacrosse, and swim, she has always been on the move. There is almost no sport she hasn’t tried yet!
