Valentine's Day Dates for Every Couple

Valentine's Day Dates for Every Couple

Let’s face it— not every couple is the type to spend February 14th doing the romantic, sometimes cheesy, activities that you typically think of when you hear the words “Valentine’s Day.”

Even if that’s not your vibe as a couple, you should still take the opportunity to spend Valentine’s Day together as a designated day to celebrate your relationship and show appreciation for your significant other. I’ve researched the perfect date ideas in Auburn for every type of couple, so you don’t have to!

For the Adventurous Couple

If you’re looking to get out of Auburn and explore, Smith Mountain Fire Tower is a great spot to watch the sunrise or sunset with an aerial view over Lake Martin. The forty-five minute drive can be spent listening to your favorite songs and spending quality time together! If you want to make it even more special, bring some food and blankets, so you can sit and have a picnic at the top of the tower!

For the DIY Couple

Auburn Candle Co. would be perfect for the couple that loves to DIY, because who doesn’t love candles? On February 14th you can reserve a spot for $25 per person to make candles with exclusive Valentine’s Day scents, enjoy chocolate, and spend quality time doing something unique with your person. Sounds like a dream to me!

For the Sporty Couple

Valentine’s Day falls on a Tuesday this year, which could mean that it’ll be hard to find the time to plan something. On the bright side, it means that there’s already a built-in event for the sports-loving couple – the Auburn vs. Missouri basketball game! The game is at 6 p.m., and you can make a fun date out of waiting in line (if that’s your thing).

For the Chill Couple

For the pair that just wants a quiet night in together, you can never ever go wrong with a movie night! Go to the store together to pick out your favorite snacks, drinks, and popcorn. Then decide on a movie (may I suggest a rom com?) and enjoy just being in each other’s company without the stress of planning or going out for Valentine’s Day. Bonus points if you build a fort to watch the movie from!

For the Romantic Couple

Don’t worry, I have something for everyone— even the Valentine’s-Day-loving, cheesy couples (no offense)! But really, kudos to you for wanting to plan ahead! If you’re going all in for V-Day, Auburn’s new restaurant at the Laurel Hotel & Spa, 1856, would be a lovely place to enjoy a nice, sit-down lunch or dinner. A fair warning, however, is that it will be pricier than the other ideas in this article, but who cares when it’s Valentine’s Day right?

At its core, Valentine’s Day isn’t actually about going on the perfect date or buying each other perfect gifts; it’s about spending quality time with your favorite person and showing how grateful you are for that relationship. No matter what type of couple you are, there is something for everyone this Valentine’s Day in Auburn. I hope your February 14th is one to remember!

Happy Valentine’s Day and

Be Well, Auburn.
