Is the Stanley Truly Worth the Hype?

Stanley cups are the newest trend, and it has infected Auburn’s campus.

Lately, I have noticed many students own a new water bottle— the Stanley Insulated Tumbler. Everywhere I look, I see someone lugging around a giant 40-ounce water bottle that appears to be bigger than them!

I did some investigating into this trend to see what the big deal was. Now, I am contemplating purchasing one for myself. I interviewed various friends and students on campus who owned one and compiled their main reasons for purchasing it.

1. How Much Water it can Hold

Many New Year’s Resolutions include drinking more water, which the Stanley can assist in. Those who are doing 75 hard are required to drink a gallon of water each day, which means you would only have to fill up the Stanley around 3 times a day. Staying hydrated is something a lot of us forget with our busy schedules, and it is vital that we get enough water to fuel our bodies and minds. Many students also noted how the Stanley can keep their water ice cold for days on end, which is another plus.

2. The Straw

Drinking three full Stanley cups may seem like a lot, but the straw enables you to drink more water faster opposed to a water bottle without one. According to multiple sources, straws are recommended for those hoping to drink more water, and students owning a Stanley can attest to this. Straws make it easier to drink greater amounts of water faster, and many students agreed with this, with one even mentioning that drinking water from a straw “makes it more fun.”

3. The HANDLE

Carrying a water bottle around campus with a small, uncomfortable handle, or no handle at all is the WORST, especially when you are holding a coffee in the other hand and your phone is somewhere jumbled in the mix. Friends of mine raved about how easy the handle makes walking around campus. The Stanley’s sturdy and comfortable handle makes it simple to carry from place to place. Oh, and did I forget? Apparently, the Stanley can fit into basically every cupholder!

Why Buy?

When asked why people buy the Stanley over any other insulated water bottle, students explained that the size, cute color options, and unique straw and handle are ultimately what sold them. The great reviews played a role of course, but for many, it seemed convenient and would help them to drink more water in 2023.

Staying hydrated can improve brain performance and give you more energy, which is crucial for college students. Not only that, but it can also improve digestive function, improve skin, and support detoxification leading to less headaches and joint pain.

All in all, I can see the hype behind the Stanley. It is extremely convenient and can truly aid those hoping to reach their goals by drinking more water.

And of course, for those who do not want the Stanley but need another durable water bottle, CamelBak, Hydro Flask, or a S’well are all great. You don’t have to own a Stanley to reach your goals in 2023, just plan to hydrate with your choice of water bottle. Your body will thank you!
